Halloween Investigation with APRS
Nestled in the Catskill Mountains is the town of Palenville, NY, home to a haunted location built in the mid-1800's, and was one of the first "artist’s houses" in the Catskills. It is currently owned by a pagan religious organization.
This location was investigated by the Albany Paranormal Research Society (APRS) on two separate occasions. Each investigation resulted in several electronic voice phenomenon (EVP) being captured and also personal experiences.
Selected member of the APRS Paranormal Meetup group joined members of the APRS team for a night of paranormal exploration and investigation for our special “Halloween with APRS” event.
We would like to apologize to those who followed our advertisement for this event to be broadcast live. Unfortunately we encountered internet issues and were not able to broadcast as expected. Our internet connection in Palenville were not able to handle the bandwidth that was needed to achieve our broadcast goals.
Special thanks to Fred and Scott (TrueTalk TV) for their valiant efforts after moving the entire studio to our investigation location.

Albany Rural Cemetery, Albany, NY
Albany Rural Cemetery was established on October 7, 1844. President Chester Arthur, the twenty-first President of the United States of America and many other notable people are buried in this cemetery.
Reports of strange black figures such as cars, people and unexplained large masses can be seen around the location. There has also been activity reported of a young couple dressed in pajamas that wander the cemetery as well. So does the Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands really have paranormal activity?
The Albany Paranormal Research Society invited the public group to join the APRS Paranormal Meetup of Albany on Saturday afternoon September 26, 2009 as we conducted a research investigation project at the Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands, NY. APRS Paranormal Meetup of Albany - Research Investigation Project
Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, NY
We've all heard the stories of this haunted location right in our own backyard. As we know, many in the paranormal field say that spiritual activity is reported as much during the daytime as it is during the late evening hours. So do strange things happen in Oakwood Cemetery on a late Sunday afternoon ?
Thank you for helping the Albany Paranormal Research Society find an answer and for joining the APRS Paranormal Meetup of Albany as we conducted a research investigation project at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy. This is an active site as members of the APRS team have captured EVPs at the location before.
As Oakwood is a large cemetery, we targeted certain areas where alleged activity has been reported: Uncle Sam's grave site, Burden grave site which lore says Sara Burden was an alleged witch, a mausoleum near the Burden site and also the grave site of Major General George H. Thomas, a Union General during the Civil War.
Attendees brought their personal investigation equipment : cameras, thermometers, EMF meters, KII, voice recorders, etc. APRS team members were on hand to help those who need assistance using their equipment.
If you would like to hear some of the audio that was captured by the APRS Paranormal Meetup of Albany members during this research investigation, please sign up at our Message Board at http://www.paranormalalbany.com/forum/index.php
Again, we would like to thank everyone for helping with car-pooling, dealing with the extreme heat and humidity, hanging in there while we waited for the unexpected thunderstorm to pass, for being respectful of our location, and for making this a successful event.

Many in the paranormal field say that spiritual activity is reported as much during the daytime as it is during the late evening hours. So could a location where paranormal activity has been documented in the late night hours also be active at other times?
Thank you to those who attended to help us find answers to this question and for joining the APRS Paranormal Meetup of Albany as we conducted a research investigation project at the Glenmont Lutheran Cemetery.
This is an active site and is the location where one of the APRS directors actually saw and caught "the woman in white" apparition on film two years ago.
Attendees brought their personal investigation equipment : cameras, thermometers, EMF meters, KII, voice recorders, etc. APRS team members were on hand to help those who need assistance using their equipment.

APRS Sponsored Paranormal MeetUp of Albany
"Haunted History in the Capital Region"
Guest speaker - Stuart Lehman
Attendance - 30
Stuart Lehman works for the New York State Office of General Services in the role of Curatorial/Tour services. Stuart was our wonderful tour guide for the Haunted Capital Tour that we took in 2007. He will be leading our group for the Capital Hauntings tour again for two evenings coming in October 2009. Stuart possesses extensive knowledge of local history and many local spots with reported paranormal activity.
Stuart began his lecture by explaining to the audience how important historical research is and its relation to paranormal investigations. Many people hear haunted stories about a particular area or building...but are they built on fact or are they just legend? Stuart explained how through historical research we are able to identify people and events with these stories. Sometimes we may find that the characters in the stories that we have heard are not those who are related to the stories that are told. It is even possible to take the story being told of hauntings, research the history and actual events and those involved, and actually find actual documentation of a horrific event that was related to a different person than those who the haunting is believe to be.
The locations that Stuart discussed:
- Saratoga National Historical Park, Stillwater NY
- The Schuyler House, Schuylerville, NY
- The Old Byan Inn, Saratoga Springs, NY
- The Senate House State Historic Site, Kingston, NY
- Lindenwald (Martin Van Buren National Historic Site) Kinderhook, NY
- Huguenot Street, New Paltz, NY
- Herkimer Home State Historic Site, Little Falls, NY
- Oriskany Battlefield State Historic Site, Oriskany, NY
- Fort Herkimer Church, East Herkimer, NY
- Johnson Hall State Historic Site, Johnstown NY
- Beardsley Castle, Little Falls, NY
- Fort Ontario State Historic Site, Oswego NY
- Fort Ticonderoga, Fort Ticonderoga, NY
- Historic Cherry Hill, Albany, NY
- Professor Java’s Coffee Sanctuary, Albany, NY
- NYS Capitol Building, Albany, NY
Stuart’s extensive knowledge of these locatons are enhanced with the fact that he has worked at many of these locations. Saratoga National Historical Park, The Schuyler House, The Senate House State Historic Site, Herkimer Home State Historic Site, and the NYS Capitol Building, Albany
APRS would like to thank Stuart for his generosity of his time and extensive knowledge that he has shared towards our purpose of educating the public. Also a big thanks to all those who attended.
